FAQ
What is your philosophy?
Check out the About page to learn about our math and reading philosophy! If you have more questions, let’s talk in person!
HOW DO WE GET STARTED?
Fill out the form to set up a free initial consultation. During this time, we will get to know each other, and I will find out more about your needs and goals. We will also complete a short introductory lesson and screening to see if my methodologies are a good fit.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Lessons are $30 each. Clients pay at the beginning of the month for their scheduled lessons. If you cancel in advance, missed lessons may be made up in the month they are missed or in the following month.
When DO YOU OFFER SESSIONS?
Sessions are offered Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Weekend appointments can also be accommodated. I offer a variety of times because I want your child to come to each session as fresh and focused as possible, so let me know if there’s a time you prefer that you don’t see on the schedule.
where do you offer sessions?
I currently tutor from my home, and I will send you the address once we confirm the initial consultation. This space is ideal because we are able to have a relaxing waiting room for parents as well as an additional waiting room for people with small children. We are currently in Old Katy, near Morton Road and Avenue D, off of 99.
How long do we have to commit?
I ask for a minimum one-month commitment to start because it takes some time to see a change. After that, I ask people to commit in one-month increments. The reading programs I use recommend 2-3 years of tutoring several times a week; but, depending on your child’s individual profile, you may decide to do six months of tutoring and take a break for six months and just maintain progress. Math students may only plan to take classes through the academic year, or they may even reduce the frequency of classes as they become more confident. If they find they have deficiencies in the fundamentals, I recommend extra tutoring during the summer.
